Helena Nyblom was a Swedish-Danish author born in Copenhagen in 1843. She was the daughter of a Danish composer, Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann, and was exposed to a rich cultural environment from a young age. Nyblom moved to Sweden after marrying Carl Rupert Nyblom, a professor of aesthetics. She became an important literary figure in Sweden, contributing significantly to the genre of fairytales. Her works are characterized by their poetic language and imaginative storytelling. Nyblom's stories often explored themes of nature, magic, and the supernatural, reflecting the influence of Nordic folklore. She published several collections of fairytales, and her work was widely appreciated for its lyrical and mystical qualities. Helena Nyblom is best known for her fairytale 'Jolly Calle', but she also wrote numerous other stories that captivated both children and adults alike.
