Author: Brothers Grimm
Once upon a time, there were three brothers who had become very poor. Eventually, they were so desperate that they had nothing to eat or drink. They said, "We can't keep living like this. Let's go out into the world and try to find our fortune."
So they set off and traveled many roads and fields but still hadn't found any luck. One day, they came to a big forest, and in the middle of it was a hill. As they got closer, they saw the hill was made entirely of silver. The oldest brother said, "I've found the luck I was hoping for, and I don't want anything more." He took as much silver as he could carry and went back home. But the other two said, "We want more from our luck than just silver," and they didn't take any, but continued on their way.
After two more days of walking, they came to a hill made of gold. The second brother hesitated and thought, "What should I do? Should I take enough gold to last me for the rest of my life, or should I keep going?" Finally, he decided to fill his pockets with as much gold as he could carry, said goodbye to his brother, and went home. But the third brother said, "Silver and gold don't interest me. I won't give up my chance at fortune; maybe something better is waiting for me." He kept going, and after three days, he entered an even larger forest that seemed endless. With nothing to eat or drink, he was nearly exhausted. He climbed a tall tree to see if he could spot the end of the forest, but all he saw were treetops. As he climbed down, hunger tormented him, and he wished he could eat his fill just once more.
