Once upon a time, there was a farmer named Jan, and he lived all alone in a little farmhouse. Eventually, he thought he would like to have a wife to keep it tidy for him. So he started courting a lovely maid and asked her, "Will you marry me?"

So they went to church and got married. After the wedding, she got on his horse behind him, and he brought her home. They lived as happily as the day was long.
