When animals first appeared on Earth, they were much bigger than they are now. Back then, a snake's bite wasn't poisonous, but an iguana's was. Mungoongarlee, the largest type of iguana, was a terror because of his poisonous bite. His favorite food was the flesh of the black fellows, whom he killed in large numbers. He caused so much destruction that all the other tribes held a meeting to figure out how to stop this mass killing. Many ideas were suggested, but none seemed effective. The meeting was about to end with no solution to save their relatives, the Daens. Just as they were leaving, Ouyouboolooey arrived at the watering place. He asked what the meeting was about, and Dinewan the emu told him that Mungoongarlee was mercilessly killing the Daens, living almost entirely on their flesh, and they feared the race would soon be wiped out if nothing was done.
"And," said Bohrah the kangaroo, "even though some of us are as big and strong as Mungoongarlee, if we fought him, he would kill us with the poison he carries in a hidden bag, and we too would die, just like our relatives the Daens. Most of us have relatives among the Daens, and we don't want to see them all killed, but we don't know how to stop the slaughter."
"I, too, have relatives among them, the hippi and comeboo. My relatives must be saved," said Ouyouboolooey.
"But how?" asked the others. "We are nearly all their relatives."
